Community & Advocacy

A passionate advocate for social justice, Mojda has been at the forefront of organizing and leading pivotal movements within the St. Louis community. As the main organizer of a large rally in downtown St. Louis to protest the Taliban’s takeover of Kabul, she mobilized over 500 participants, including prominent politicians, non-profit leaders, and activists, to demand action from the government. Mojda’s commitment to fighting systemic racism was evident when she co-organized a significant protest in St. Louis city, raising awareness and calling for change. She also led a candlelight vigil and prayer service for George Floyd at Forest Park’s Art Hill, drawing over 150 attendees from various faiths to stand united against racial injustice. Her leadership continued with a rally at the Delmar Loop to protest the persecution of Muslims in India, where hundreds marched alongside her to demand justice. These efforts, widely recognized and covered by the media, not only brought pressing issues to the forefront but also created spaces for communities to come together and fight for a more just society.

Cultural & Diversity Engagement

Mojda’s unwavering commitment to cultural diversity and inclusion is evident through her leadership in various initiatives. As the driving force behind the annual Ubuntu Gala, an event she founded for the International Institute of St. Louis, Mojda has successfully raised significant funds while promoting unity through cultural diversity. Her role as the emcee of the Festival of Nations saw her captivating an audience of over 200,000, celebrating global cultures and encouraging support for making St. Louis a vibrant, multicultural city.

Mojda’s passion for cultural engagement extends beyond large public events. She organized and emceed the Afghan Eid Festival, uniting over 1,100 attendees from the Afghan community, bringing joy to families and children. Her impact is further seen in her involvement with the "Silent No More" event, which addressed opioid abuse within immigrant communities. Mojda has also traveled across the U.S. to promote St. Louis and recruit Afghans to resettle in the region.

Recently, Mojda expanded her portfolio by presenting the work of the International Institute of St. Louis and its efforts to build a multicultural St. Louis region to an audience of 200 staff members at the Safety National Company. This presentation not only highlighted the Institute's initiatives but also reinforced the importance of cultural diversity in corporate settings. Additionally, Mojda continues to teach Diversity & Inclusion and Mental Health to correctional officers at the Clayton Justice Center and regularly hosts multicultural events that foster understanding and unity among diverse communities.

Women’s Empowerment

Mojda has been a steadfast advocate for women’s rights, creating and leading initiatives that empower women from all walks of life. She was honored to be a main speaker at the Women’s March in St. Louis following the passing of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, sharing the stage with influential leaders such as the Mayor of St. Louis and a Congresswoman. In her role, Mojda has hosted numerous workshops and events for Afghan and Muslim women, helping them build supportive communities and empowering them to take control of their lives and well-being. She was also invited by Afghanistan’s renowned singer Aryana Sayed to a private gathering of activists, where her work was featured on Voices of America. Her dedication to women's empowerment is further demonstrated by her organization of the Spring Inclusion Speaker Series, which included interactive activities to address issues facing women in St. Louis, and the International Women’s Tea Party, which sold out and resulted in hundreds of donations. These initiatives have not only inspired countless women but also created safe spaces for them to grow, connect, and lead with confidence.
